Help us support the Shuswap Trail Alliance

Announcing a special shirt with 10% of sales going to the Shuswap Trail Alliance

Everyone knows I love the Shuswap. We spend our summers at the lake either out on the water or on the trails.

My Dad is a trail runner and has run all over BC, Alberta and even down into Washington State and Montana. We actually spend some of our weekends going around to different places for him to race. My mom, sister and I are a pretty good support team and we find different places around the courses to cheer him on.

I like to run too. Not as much as my Dad, but I do cross country at school and my Dad takes me running sometimes too. When we are at the lake, my Dad goes out almost every day for a run up in the trails and comes home with awesome stories and pictures of wicked views. Sometimes I go with him to do hill repeats or a shorter run. My family also spends time going for walks and hikes all around the Shuswap. One of my favourites is the lookout over Blind Bay and next summer, I want to go to the Sicamous lookout. We are so lucky that there is such a big trail network around the lake.

I’ve been thinking about how to give back to the community which has been so kind and generous to me. We’ve supported a few schools this year with donations as well as provided prizes for the Lewiston Ultra. But I wanted to do something that is ongoing and the connection to the trails seems like the perfect place to start.

We are launching a new t shirt with partial proceeds going to the Shuswap Trail Alliance. This group is at the centre of bringing people together to enhance and expand the trail system throughout the Shuswap for us all to enjoy. We’ll donate 10% from the sale of each shirt to the Shuswap Trail Alliance.

The design is inspired by the trail leading up to Margaret Falls. I was there with my family and my grandma a couple of years ago before it got damaged. What I liked about that trail is that it’s relatively easy and nearly everyone can go see it. My mom says that she remembers going there as a little girl too.

Anyway, I hope you get out lots on the trails. I’d love to hear about your favourite trails.

    Hello Riley,
I am a retired professor, a photographer, and a writer. The Scoop newspaper, which focuses on the events and people of the South Shuswap, has asked me to explore with you and your parents the possibility of writing an article about your endeavours and plans. After reading the Observer article and your website comments, I am excited to do so—sort of an update from the 2018 article. If you and your family are ok with meeting with me to conduct an interview and take a few pictures, would you please contact me at jerre.paquette@gmail.com so we can set up a time and place? I’m keen to meet you.

Thank you so much for the Tee, Riley. Very thoughtful of you. I got the package on Friday last week just in time for our Shuswap Trail Alliance Christmas Staff lunch. So I opened it up and got to share with everyone. THEY all love it. Got everything together to get a Facebook post out. Again thank you so much for thinking of the Shuswap Trail Alliance for your fundraiser. Much appreciated. Lori
